About the position This job is responsible for and maintains high quality standards of unit operations by communicating patient information. Monitors a patient's heart rates and rhythms and is responsible for communicating any ECG changes in a calm and clear manner to the appropriate department. Must be able to perform detailed reading of arrhythmias, maintain telemetry equipment, and have a comprehensive knowledge of the Telemetry Monitoring system. Will possess knowledge of hospital systems, procedures, department locations, treatment areas and patient services. Responsibilities β’ Recognizes life threatening arrhythmias and reports to the appropriate department STAT. β’ Maintains visual check of monitors. β’ Maintains log of patients being monitored. β’ Provides accurate information in an informative manner respecting patient's rights. β’ Interprets basic ECG strips for rate & rhythm. β’ Troubleshoots & collaborates with Biomed/nurses for GE telemetry problems. β’ Recognizes artifact & troubleshoots effectively. β’ Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. β’ Other related duties as required. Requirements β’ High School diploma or equivalent. β’ Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
