Job Title: Social Services Assistant - Canada Summer Jobs Department: Community Development Services Status and Hours: Temporary Full-time - 35h/week (June 22, 2026 – August 14, 2026) Pay rate: $18.564/h/hr Reports to: Community House Coordinator Deadline: Until Filled This position is an existing vacancy. For more information about CSJ eligibility, please access Job Summary The Social Services Assistant (SSA) is responsible for assisting with the facilitation of summer programming for children and other Community House programs, the delivery of food security programming, and helping to create resources for Ottawa Community Housing residents. Responsibilities Outreach activities to residents of OCH neighborhoods. Assist in implementing community-based programs including summer programming for children and youth. Provides information about community resources. Perform administrative duties related to the programs. Participates as an active team member in staff meetings. Supports Community House Coordinators, Community Workers, volunteers and participants. Assists with the operation of food banks and food security programming. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be between the ages of 15-30 years of age as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements. Is legally entitled to work in Canada, as per the requirements of Canada Summer Jobs Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, as per the requirements of Canada Summer Jobs Related experience in a community setting and community programs an asset. Experience working with at-risk children and youth an asset. Understanding and sensitivity to poverty and minority issues. Working remotely may be required. Knowledge of online programming an asset. Position may require some heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Fluency in English is required; fluency in Somali, Arabic or French asset; other languages desirable.
