Job Description
Hey! I'm Julius Junfert, CEO of DESKSPACE. We sell ergonomic furniture — standing desks, chairs, monitor arms — primarily through Amazon and our own Shopify store, with a focus on the German and European market. We've been growing fast (3x growth rate), and our Shopify store is becoming a bigger piece of the puzzle every quarter. Here's the honest situation: We've been working with an external agency for our Shopify development, and we're ready to bring this in-house. We need someone who doesn't just write code — we need someone who thinks about the store. Someone who looks at a product page and says "this conversion flow doesn't make sense" before we even ask. Someone who can take a Figma design, implement it pixel-perfect in Shopify, and then improve on it because they understand e-commerce. If you're someone who's excited about taking an already-growing store to the next level — we want to hear from you. Tasks What you'll actually do: - Own the technical side of our Shopify store () — theme development, customization, and ongoing optimization - Build and customize Shopify apps/plugins using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Implement designs from Figma into clean, responsive Shopify pages — and flag when the design doesn't work for conversion - Build and maintain API integrations between Shopify and our tool stack (Billbee, Klaviyo, and more) — clean interface programming is key - Work with AI coding tools to ship faster — we expect you to use tools like Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or similar - Collaborate with our internal team: Tulon (Senior IT Specialist), Jonas (CMO), and directly with the CEO - Proactively identify and fix UX issues, page speed problems, and conversion bottlenecks - Manage Shopify app stack — evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot apps Requirements What you must bring: - Shopify expertise — deep experience with Liquid templating, theme development, and the Shopify ecosystem. You've built or heavily customized stores before. Show us. - Portfolio required — send us links to Shopify stores or websites you've worked on. This is non-negotiable. We want to see your actual work. - Figma proficiency — you work directly from Figma files and can translate designs into code. This is a must, not a nice-to-have. - Frontend skills — strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript. You write clean, maintainable code. - Plugin/app development — ability to build custom Shopify apps or extend existing ones. Bonus if you've published apps on the Shopify App Store. - AI-assisted development — you actively use AI coding tools in your workflow. We don't want someone who's "open to trying AI" — we want someone who already codes with it daily. - UI/UX knowledge — you understand user flows, information hierarchy, and how design decisions impact conversion. - E-commerce mindset — you've worked on high-performance, high-converting Shopify stores. You understand product page best practices, checkout optimization, page speed, and mobile-first design. - Eye for design — you notice when spacing is off, when a CTA doesn't pop, when a page feels cluttered. This is rare in developers and it's exactly what we're looking for. Nice to have: - German language skills (our store and customer base are German-speaking) - Experience with e-commerce tools (Billbee, Klaviyo, or similar) - Knowledge of SEO best practices for Shopify - Experience with headless commerce or Shopify Hydrogen - Previous work with D2C/DTC brands Benefits - Part-time role — approximately 20 hours/week, flexible scheduling - €15–30/hour — depending on experience and skill level - 100% remote — work from anywhere - Direct collaboration — you'll work directly with the CEO and senior team, not through layers of management - Real ownership — this isn't agency work where you get a brief and execute. You'll own the Shopify store technically and have a voice in how it evolves. - AI-forward environment — we use AI tools across the company and encourage experimentation - Ergonomic perks — free standing desk, chair, and accessories from our product line How to apply: Send your application including: 1. Your CV 2. Your hourly rate expectation 3. Your portfolio — links to Shopify stores or websites you've built/customized (mandatory) 4. A brief note on which AI coding tools you use and how they fit into your workflow Best, Julius
