What The Senior Architect Does At Worldwide The Senior Architect role is responsible for global Information Technology (IT) architecture. This includes recommending standards, working with business leaders to determine solutions, and implementing and managing IT infrastructure projects at a global level. The Senior Architect must understand the intricacies and relationships of diverse technology stacks such as infrastructure hardware and software, cloud services and compute, security platforms, authentication mechanisms including biometrics, system and process automation using scripts or other tools, and reporting systems. They plan and execute future technology projects based on business needs and emerging trends, lead all project phases from design through validation and operations, provide technical advice and guidance to IT and business leaders, and present business cases at the executive level. They prioritize, multitask, and oversee a wide variety of global projects in the U.S., international, and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) regions. What You Will Do • Scope, define, and execute on the IT strategy, partnering with IT and business leaders • Manage the evolution of technical solutions hosted internally or externally, whether managed by Worldwide Clinical Trials and/or by vendors on Worldwide Clinical Trials’ behalf • Provide technical expertise and guidance for the Worldwide Clinical Trials compute environment, including but not limited to: • Systems design, implementation, and support of VMware, Citrix, SAN, DFS, DHCP, backup, server standards, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Windows Server, and Windows PC imaging, patching, and maintenance • Authentication systems design, implementation, and support utilizing two-factor authentication, tokens, and biometrics • Security system design, implementation, and support utilizing Microsoft Defender and other security tools • Systems management utilizing Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Microsoft Defender, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Intune • Define and revise IT architecture standards as needed • Implement and maintain IT infrastructure projects, keeping milestones on target and providing regular updates, communication, and guidance to teams and upper management as appropriate • Provide Tier 3–4 support for day-to-day management of infrastructure solutions, both internal and external (cloud), including Dell storage, servers, network connectivity, SAN, and backup • Facilitate and manage effective monitoring and auditing of IT and security audit logs and other security-related systems; investigate and elevate incidents, including documentation, reporting of events, and preventative actions • Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring To The Role • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work under pressure • General knowledge of cloud service providers and basic cloud architecture • Knowledge of Computer System Validation (21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11, Good Practice (GxP)) • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint Your Experience • 10+ years of experience managing and/or designing enterprise environments (including VMware, Citrix, Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2, SCCM/Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Active Directory, SAN, disk‑to‑disk backup systems, and/or Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS)), preferably in a global role; 7+ years of experience acceptable with a bachelor’s degree in IT, engineering, or sciences • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and related technologies • Strong troubleshooting capability for complex enterprise technical issues • Strong understanding of infrastructure services such as Active Directory, SCCM/WSUS, GPOs, ADCS, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), DNS, DHCP, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), VPN, and Internet Information Services (IIS); experience in technical administration • Scripting experience in Microsoft PowerShell or an equivalent language • Willingness to manage network and datacenter maintenance or emergencies during non-business hours, evenings, and weekends Worldwide is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to enabling professionals from all backgrounds and experiences to succeed and, to that end, we prioritize attracting diverse talent and cultivating an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.
