The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s databases to ensure data is available, accurate, and protected. Responsibilities Install & configure databases (e.g., Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL) Monitor performance and optimize queries for speed and efficiency Backup & recovery: Ensure data can be restored after failures Security management: Control user access and prevent unauthorized access Troubleshooting: Fix database issues, crashes, or slowdowns Upgrades & patches: Keep systems up to date Data integrity: Ensure accuracy and consistency of stored data Skills Active TS Required Bachelor's degree preferred Strong knowledge of SQL Understanding of database design and data modeling Experience with performance tuning and indexing Familiarity with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure Knowledge of backup tools, security practices, and disaster recovery Q Clearance preferred Company Overview August Schell is dedicated to delivering agile and innovative cybersecurity solutions to proactively defend and protect organization’s data against cyber attacks.
