About the Role The Regulatory Accounting Manager at Longevity Health Plans is responsible for managing, arranging and delivery of accurate and timely reporting for financial results of Longevity’s downstream IPAs (Independent Provider Association). This role manages outsourced accounting partners, ensures compliance with US GAAP and regulatory standards, strengthens internal controls, and provides timely, accurate financial insights to leadership. Requirements Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Coordinate with the outsourced accounting partners as currently exist and as are engaged in the future, directing the monthly accounting close process including the accurate and timely reporting of the Company’s downstream IPA’s financials in accordance with US GAAP, regulatory guidelines and Company policy and procedures Oversees outsourced accounting partner’s activities and methodology to accurately record medical revenue, medical expenses and related accruals Appropriate attention to be devoted to appropriate tracking and reporting of accrued revenue from Risk Adjustment Factor, and unpaid claims (Incurred But Not Recorded or Paid – IBNR) estimates Assure that outsourced accounting partners have developed and maintain and utilize monthly detailed close checklist listing each task, its time and responsibility in order to facilitate day to day tracking of progress to achievement of departmental goals Assist with the VP, Corporate Controller in cash management, investment oversight, and cash forecasting for the downstream IPAs Review financial records and statements as necessary including account reconciliations and journal entries as proposed or recorded by the outsourced accounting partners. Analyze company-wide accounts for adjustments and reconciliation to third party reports Research and resolve all significant accounting matters that may arise, including new rule adoption projects. Prepare technical memos and be the internal expert to advise on accounting impacts for the business Perform surplus reconciliation with downstream IPA payor monthly Review monthly market financial package and distribute to the market leaders Oversee disbursements of payment for downstream IPAs related to capitation, bonus, and services Oversee downstream IPA’s 1099 reporting and distribution Review tax returns related to downstream IPA markets Manage ad-hoc reporting for executive management. Identify trends or anomalies and escalate to senior management Evaluate available company data to determine additional meaningful reporting opportunities to assist and further the business activities Evaluate the performance of outsourced accounting partners and provide direct feedback including areas for improvement and necessary change Coordinate with outsourced accounting partners regarding the need to train, mentor, and evaluate performance of their term members to ensure quality of service and technical expertise Plan and manage all audit activities including independent financial auditors. Assist the Assistant Controller for all auditors as it relates to financial reporting and satisfaction of US GAAP compliance, statutory requirements, and governmental regulations Maintain and improve upon current outsourced accounting relationships, infrastructure and procedures to scale with business growth, including documentation of policies and procedures Constantly evaluate and assure that adequate internal controls are in place to avoid any “material weaknesses” and allow reliability on financial reporting Develop and maintain and complete set of Policies and Procedures adequate for ongoing and uninterrupted operation of accounting and reporting function Design and implement workflow enhancements, automation and data sharing across the organization for optimal efficiency Manage and perform special projects and implementations as directed by management Coordinate with Internal Audit function if and when established Monitor and adhere to all Compliance requirements as well as company policy Supervisory Responsibilities: Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees Plans, monitors, and appraises job results Conducts training Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations Completes operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Licensure: CPA or CMA required Education and Training: B.A/B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record and proof of automobile insurance required Auto insurance coverage as required by your state of residence New employees will be responsible for providing proof of coverage prior to hire and on an ongoing basis Knowledge and Experience: Minimum of 8 years accounting, auditing and management experience Previous experience in health care payor organization is required Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required Auditing experience in CPA public accounting firm is required Ability to lead projects across organization, which require influence and implementation across functional teams and partner organizations Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite Experience with Intacct or similar financial management software preferred Ability to execute multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment Experience in the Skilled Nursing Facility sector is preferred Experience in Managed Care and in particular Medicare Advantage is preferred Summary Company Overview Longevity Health is a national provider of Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNP), created to meet the complex healthcare needs of nursing home residents.
