Job Title: On-Call / As-Needed Grant Writer (1099 Contractor) Organization: GAFS Co. (Grant and Funding Solutions Company) Location: South Florida (Remote) Compensation: $25/hour Type: Independent Contractor (1099) – On-Call / As-Needed About Us GAFS Co. partners with local organizations across South Florida to expand access to high-impact philanthropic and community funding. We work with nonprofits that serve Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties and provide them with strategic, compliant, and competitive grant writing support. We are expanding our on-call grant writing team to support steady client work on an as-needed basis. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced on-call, as-needed Grant Writer to join our contractor pool. This is a 1099 independent contractor position, ideal for someone who already has a full-time job or part-time work and would like to earn additional income through flexible, project-based assignments. You will be assigned one or two South Florida-based nonprofit clients and will write grants for them on a recurring basis, depending on open funding cycles, availability, and client needs. Work is fully remote, and assignments are provided based on your availability. Key Responsibilities β€’ Write competitive grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents for assigned clients. β€’ Conduct targeted prospect research for South Florida foundations and funders when required. β€’ Maintain and manage client grant calendars, deadlines, and submission requirements. β€’ Collaborate with clients to gather materials, program information, budgets, and narratives. β€’ Ensure all submissions meet funder guidelines and nonprofit compliance standards. β€’ Track hourly work for accurate invoicing through our contractor payment system. β€’ Communicate professionally using the GAFS Co.’s provided email address. Required Qualifications β€’ Must live in South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County). β€’ Minimum 1–2 years of grant writing experience, preferably for nonprofits. β€’ Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities. β€’ Ability to manage your own schedule and meet deadlines independently. β€’ Comfortable working as a 1099 contractor (not an employee). β€’ Must have your own computer, internet access, and workspace. β€’ Organized, responsive, and able to work across multiple projects with limited supervision. Compensation β€’ $25 per hour, paid bi-weekly on hours worked. β€’ Client work may be funded through a retainer, one-time fee, or award-based arrangement, however, your pay rate remains hourly and is not dependent on whether a client receives an award. Ideal Candidate β€’ Already employed (full-time or part-time) and seeking flexible supplemental income. β€’ Able to take on assignments during evenings/weekends or in gaps between regular work responsibilities. β€’ Passionate about supporting South Florida-based community organizations.
