The Interior Designer I role involves assisting throughout the design process, contributing to project goals, and learning to integrate design concepts while ensuring sustainability. Responsibilities Provides assistance throughout the interior design process under routine guidance; contributes to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in interior design, execution, and living design Begins to understand the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts Participates in preparing contract documents, including but not limited to floor plans and details, reflected ceiling plans, mill work design, furniture layouts, finish plans, and schedules Assists in creating presentation materials and models for client presentations Learns to manipulate basic design elements such as spatial layout, color, light, texture, and scale Researches manufacturers and contributes to selection of colors, finishes, materials, furniture, and lighting for interior application, ensuring sustainability goals of the firm are maintained Contributes to programming and space planning analysis and provides area calculations Gains exposure to knowledge of project scope, budgets, and deliverables Uses a creative approach to perform tasks and responsibilities on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design, materials, and products as well as the industry at large Provides support to tasks within project teams (may focus on individual detailed tasks) and studio activities Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others Assists with coordination among partners and consultants Skills Bachelor's degree in interiors, architecture, or related discipline required Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements Additional skills should include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino Effective verbal and written communication skills Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn Collaborative and professional work ethic LEED GA within 6 months of hire Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation Preparing for NCIDQ exam Benefits Medical Dental Vision FSA/HSA accounts 401k with employer match PTO and paid holidays Short-term and long-term disability Paid parental leave Commuter benefits Life insurance Learning and development opportunities Company Overview Since 1935, we’ve believed that design has the power to make the world a better, more beautiful place.
