Our Live Chat Team is a highly scaled product supporting millions of messages with high performance and reliability. We're looking to continue to expand this system to build out a holistic service that can support our customers beyond just chat capabilities. As a Technical Lead II in our Live Chat Backend team, you'll have the opportunity to lead a small team, develop and mentor direct reports, and provide technical guidance, product direction, and coaching to team members. You'll be responsible for overseeing the technical execution and delivery of new features to improve time to value, unifying separate systems into a cohesive chat experience, exploring generative AI opportunities, and making use of industry-leading 3rd party tools and robust home-grown infrastructure. **About the Role** We're seeking a strong senior engineer with some experience leading small teams to join our Live Chat Backend team. As a Technical Lead II, you'll be a player-coach responsible for leading a small team, collaborating with Product, Design, and other Tech Leads within your team to establish relevant, compelling, and challenging goals, and actively working with other Tech Leads to address and resolve cross-team issues. **Key Responsibilities** - Participate in the technical execution and delivery of new features to improve time to value - Unify separate systems into a cohesive chat experience - Explore generative AI opportunities to help our customers move fast - Make use of industry-leading 3rd party tools as well as robust home-grown infrastructure powering the arenaflex organization - Build and scale a robust data infrastructure that serves the entire organization - Take proactive ownership of the team's on-call health, product reliability, and overall quality - Have a vested interest in the direction of the product, actively participating in decision-making rather than deferring to the PM, PD, or others - Serve as an active member of the team's leadership triad, helping to co-set the team's direction - Committed to the growth of team members, enabling them to take on increasingly complex tasks - Focus on cultivating Software Engineers into Senior Software Engineers and nurturing Senior Software Engineers into future Tech Leads and Staff Engineers - Regularly evaluate team members' performance and provide necessary coaching, guidance, and learning opportunities to support their career growth **Essential Qualifications** - Strong senior engineer with some experience leading small teams - Passion for writing code and reading code - Foster an environment that encourages autonomy and psychological safety - Understand the value of building a diverse team, and are champions and upstanders for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives - Enjoy mentoring and coaching other team members in a psychologically safe way, while also being open to learning from them as well **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with Java 11 and Dropwizard framework - Familiarity with Kafka for processing large volumes of data - Strong understanding of microservices architecture - Experience with RESTful APIs and API design - Strong communication and leadership skills - Experience with team management and leadership - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues **Skills and Competencies** - Strong technical skills in Java 11, Dropwizard framework, and Kafka - Excellent communication and leadership skills - Ability to debug complex issues and provide solutions - Strong problem-solving skills - Experience with team management and leadership - Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs - Familiarity with industry-leading 3rd party tools and robust home-grown infrastructure - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** At arenaflex, we believe in the growth and development of our employees. If you join our broader Product team, you'll also attend other in-person events such as your Product Group Summit and other gatherings to continue building on those connections. **Compensation, Perks, and Benefits** The cash compensation range for this role is $191,100-$305,800 USD Annually. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in arenaflex's equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
