The Electrical Engineering Data Collection Technician supports the engineering team by performing structured field data collection for power-system studies, ensuring accurate data for modeling facilities. Responsibilities Pre-Visit Preparation: Review one-line diagrams, scope boundaries, and the Engineering Data Checklist. Review Data Collection Packet (DCP) with the engineer on assigned projects and verify understanding of the scope of work. Confirm site access, required PPE, and any permit or hot-work constraints with the PM/Engineer. Verify calibration and readiness of test equipment, camera, tablet forms, tools, and PPE inventory Field Data Collection: Verify and redline one-lines—trace feeders, note discrepancies, and tag undocumented gear. Capture nameplate data (photo and typed values) for transformers, switchboards, panelboards, Motor Control Centers (MCC), large motors, generators/ATS, UPS, and VFDs. Record protective device settings, breaker frame/rating plugs, and configuration settings. Document conductor size, insulation type, length estimates, bus bracing, and enclosure type. Observe and record grounding, bonding, and Surge Protective Devices (SPD) installations when visible. Follow NFPA 70E shock and arc-flash approach boundaries; execute Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and lockout/tagout where required Post-Visit Data Handoff: Organize photos and form data into the standard SharePoint folder structure; rename per naming conventions. Populate the Engineering Data Package (EDP) spreadsheet and flag missing or ambiguous items within 24 hours. Upload redlined one-lines and coordinate with the engineering team for drafting. Attend data turnover meetings with the lead engineer to resolve open questions Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Suggest form and template improvements to increase data quality and efficiency. Mentor junior technicians once proficient; share lessons learned at safety and quality meetings Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support business needs. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and contribute to team-wide learning and growth Skills High school diploma (required) Experience as an electrical technician, wireman, or related role Working knowledge of switchgear, breakers, and industrial electrical components Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams Basic proficiency in Microsoft 365, Teams, and tablet-based field forms Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under travel schedules OSHA-10 (or ability to complete within 30 days) Must meet company, client, and/or regulatory compliance requirements, which may include a valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), criminal background check, drug screening, or other screenings, depending on job duties or site access requirements AAS in Electrical or Electromechanical Technology (preferred) NFPA 70E training preferred Prior field data collection experience in engineering or power systems Familiarity with power system study methodologies Experience working in industrial, commercial, or government electrical environments Experience supporting technical services, electrical testing, or construction industries Benefits Health & Wellness including Medical, Dental, and Vision 401(k) Retirement Plan Match Contribution PTO & Holiday Pay Paid Travel Expenses (when applicable) Career Advancement Opportunities Company Overview POWER TOGETHER.
