Job Summary The Director of Product Data Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for building, governing, and scaling enterprise-wide product data capabilities. Reporting to the VP of Merchandising, this role drives the consolidation of multiple PIM systems into a unified MDM/PIM solution, ensuring a single, reliable source of product truth across the organization. The Director will lead data governance, quality, and standardization efforts while enabling cross-functional teams to make confident, data-driven decisions. This position combines strategic vision with hands-on execution and oversees a team dedicated to product data operations, working closely with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Operations, and external partners. Job Duties & Responsibilities • Lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for consolidating multiple PIM systems into a unified MDM or PIM solution • Evaluate current systems and define future-state architecture requirements in partnership with Engineering and Technology teams • Ensure the product data platform is scalable, accessible, and supports enterprise-wide needs • Own PIM integration strategy to support product data quality across all channels and marketplaces • Define and enforce data governance frameworks, including ownership, accountability, and decision rights across product data domains • Develop and maintain scalable data governance policies, standards, and procedures • Drive improvements in product data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all systems • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure product data meets quality standards for decision-making • Oversee product data enrichment to ensure completeness and adherence to business standards • Implement standardized taxonomies, metadata definitions, and lifecycle management practices • Act as the authoritative source for product data standards and resolve cross-functional discrepancies • Own the strategy and management of product relationship data to enable cross-sell and cross-merchandising opportunities • Collaborate with Category Management and Merchandising teams to ensure actionable and structured product data • Design scalable governance frameworks to support product launches, market expansion, and system integrations • Anticipate future data needs and proactively build supporting infrastructure • Establish cross-functional collaboration models across Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations • Translate data governance initiatives into measurable business outcomes for senior leadership • Oversee end-to-end product data ingestion from manufacturers and OEM partners, including onboarding and lifecycle tracking • Manage data SLAs and ensure timely, accurate, and complete product data delivery • Continuously evaluate and improve data enrichment quality and completeness • Define, track, and report KPIs to measure data governance effectiveness and maturity • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the product data team • Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for product data operations and governance • Set team priorities, performance expectations, and promote a collaborative, accountable culture Qualifications 10+ years of experience in product data management, data governance, MDM, or a related field At least 2 years of leadership or team management experience Proven experience leading or contributing to PIM/MDM consolidation or implementation initiatives Experience managing product data ingestion workflows, including working with external partners such as manufacturers or OEMs Strong understanding of data quality principles, taxonomies, metadata, and product lifecycle management Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across technical and non-technical teams Experience defining and tracking KPIs to measure data governance success Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and solve operational challenges Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business terms Highly organized with strong project and stakeholder management capabilities Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and building structure where needed Experience in retail, e-commerce, merchandising, or manufacturing-related industries (preferred) Hands-on experience with PIM platforms such as Akeneo, Salsify, or inRiver (preferred) Familiarity with MDM tools and data governance technologies (preferred) Experience defining data SLAs and managing vendor or partner data relationships (preferred) Understanding of marketplace and channel data requirements such as Amazon, EDI, or DTC (preferred) Minimal Travel Required Physical Demands & Work Environment This position may require over 40 hours per week and includes regular physical activity such as: Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer Occasional standing, walking, and moving throughout office or branch environments Ability to travel occasionally for vendor meetings, branch visits, or company events Ability to lift up to 15–20 pounds occasionally What We Offer : We prioritize your well-being from day one with a comprehensive benefits package that includes: Medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage effective immediately 401(k) plan with company contributions Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage HSA/FSA options and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and personal days Weekly pay, employee discounts, and more Equal Employment Opportunity & Pre-Employment Requirements mSupply is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
