Job Description

Perkins&Will is a design firm that emphasizes innovation and excellence in design. They are seeking a Designer I who will assist throughout the design process, contribute creative ideas, and support schematic design and client presentations under supervision. Responsibilities Provides assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance; contributes to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design Supports preparation of creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team Provides design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents Performs product research and assists team with material selections Assists in preparing client presentation materials using design application skills and creative ideas Uses a creative approach to perform tasks and responsibilities on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compile data for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large Provides support to tasks within project teams (may focus on individual detailed tasks) and studio activities Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others Assists with coordination among partners and consultants Skills Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required Effective verbal and written communication skills Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn Collaborative and professional work ethic Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements Additional skills should include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino LEED GA within 6 months of hire Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation Active involvement in AXP, or starting the ARE Process Benefits Medical Dental Vision FSA/HSA accounts 401k with employer match PTO and paid holidays Short-term and long-term disability Paid parental leave Commuter benefits Life insurance Learning and development opportunities Company Overview Since 1935, we’ve believed that design has the power to make the world a better, more beautiful place.
