Job Description

California Franchise Tax Board is responsible for tax administration and compliance in California. They are seeking an Accounting Systems Developer to perform various tasks related to software engineering, including analysis, development, and support of applications and systems. Responsibilities Performing a variety of recurring, well-defined tasks related to the Software Engineering domain across multiple FTB applications and systems Occasional innovative problem-solving in connection with the analysis, development, implementation, or support of applications and systems Work as a technical application developer, within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) Responsible for the analysis, design, coding and unit testing of both new and existing applications and services based on IT system requirements and associated documentation to deliver quality IT solutions Support the Bureau's business hours and your work shift schedule may be subject to change based on the Bureau's business and operational needs which occasionally includes off-hours and on call support Skills Ability to plan, organize, and adapt to changing assignments and priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines Knowledge of the mainframe environment (input/output datasets, JCL, Batch, On-lines, etc.) Knowledge and experience in COBOL, Natural, TSO/ISPF, ADABAS, DB2 Ability to work independently and collaborate with various technical teams in a cross-team environment Excellent organizational and Analytical Skills Mindset for resilience, adaptability, and enterprise Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to adjust language according to target audience Self Starter with excellent time management and organizational skills Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills and display of professionalism Knowledge of general technology concepts, policies and methods, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Experience and knowledge of the Legacy Personal Income Tax (PIT) System Easily adapts to and embraces changing organizational structures and methodologies Willing and eager to learn new tools and procedures Experience with MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Visio, and Project) Experience working on zOS mainframe system Company Overview The Franchise Tax Board is responsible for administering two of California's major tax programs: personal income tax and corporation tax.
